Community Connection: A Morning at The Bird Gardens of Naples
There is something incredibly grounding about getting outside, getting your hands dirty, and doing some good for the local community. On Tuesday, October 27th, we are heading to the Bird Gardens of Naples for a morning of volunteering, connection, and some feather fun with over 200 exotic birds and other animals that call BGoN their home.
If you aren't familiar with the Bird Gardens of Naples (BGoN), they are a phenomenal non-profit sanctuary located in the beautiful green space of Corkscrew Swamp. Their mission is simple but vital: they focus entirely on parrot welfare in captivity and the conservation of wild parrots. BGoN provides a safe, natural, and permanent haven for abandoned, abused, or relinquished birds and during this event, you'll get to see them up close and personal.
As someone deeply passionate about animal rescue and wild species conservation, I love everything this organization stands for. They do incredible work educating the public and advocating for these highly intelligent animals, and this event is our chance to step in, help them out and learn a little more about our colorful friends in the sky.
What we'll be doing
We’re blending hands-on service with a chance to learn and relax. Here is what the morning looks like:
-
Guest Volunteering: We’ll spend the first 60 minutes rolling up our sleeves to help out around the sanctuary. Whether it’s grounds upkeep or assisting with parrot care, there are tasks for absolutely every ability level.
-
The Sanctuary Tour: After we put in some work, we’ll get an exclusive chance to visit with BGoN’s beautiful residents. You’ll have the opportunity to meet these beautiful birds up close, hand out treats, and take plenty of photos.
-
Meet Adoptable Birds: If you’ve been thinking about adding a feathered friend to your home, this is the perfect time to interact with adoptable parrots looking for their forever flock.
-
Picnic Under the Trees: We’ll wrap up the morning by relaxing and connecting over a delicious, catered picnic lunch with refreshments right there on the sanctuary grounds.
